Down with the FCC...

The FCC has broadcasters scared, and I think it's pathetic. Saving Private Ryan is an amazing movie made to honor the lives of those who died for our country, and the FCC has broadcasters scared because of hefty fines they levied on CBS (for the Super Bowl breast showing), and ABC (?) for Bono's explicative.

Which is interesting, considering they seem to be flip-flopping on issues. What I don't get is that they let "Schindler's List" air on ABC - which I think has a more extreme subject matter (along with full-frontal nudity) than Ryan does.

And we owe it all to the Super Bowl. If it weren't for Janet Jackson's boob popping out on Live National TV - broadcasters wouldn't be stuck in this Catch-22 situation. Most broadcasters wanted to air Ryan, as long as they were guaranteed of no fines for airing it. But if they do air it, they might get fined, but they might not - so they err on the side of caution, and this movie that honors the memories of thousands upon thousands that have died for our country isn't aired.

Very very sad....
