Pure Imagination

Just finished watching "Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory".

And listening to the highly entertaining commentary featuring the 5 kids (who are now in their 40's) from the movie.

Peter Ostrum (who played Charlie) said the most interesting thing near the end.

When Charlie puts the Gobstopper on the desk, Wonka turns around and says to him "My Boy..." Could it be that Wonka is Charlie's father? Think about it. In the context of the movie (not the book), Charlie has no Father. Their's Grandpa Joe and his Mom, and his bed-ridden Aunts and Uncles. Which goes to spark "Wonkagate". Again, in the context of the movie Slugworth (who we later find out is working for Wonka) is always present when the Golden Tickets are found. Could it be that Wonka planted the 5 Tickets (including his son, Charlie's) just fix it so that Charlie would win in the end?

Hehe.. yeah I know I'm reading into a simple movie, but I'll never watch the movie as subjectively as I have in the past. Now that the idea is in my head, I'll think "Wow.. that really makes sense once you think about it".

But then again it's Pure Imagination....

Don't Panic... Don't Panic

Because it's finally completely official. The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy is in it's 5th week of production, and Should be coming out next year!

Woot!

As a fan of DNA (Douglas N. Adams), I've loved every incarnation of the book/radio show that I've seen, and the movie should be fantastic.

Beatles... Anthology

Well I gave my friend Heather "The Beatles Anthology" on DVD for Christmas- which is like 5 DVD's worth of video and interviews. And I decided to borrow it to watch. And it's cool. So far there is no narrator - It's John, Paul, George and Ringo in their own voices.

Pretty cool...

Figures

I should know by now.

After working on computers for as long as I have I should definitely know by now.

All the time I drink a soda and my Dad wondered, "Why do you always put the cap back on?" - he should have known by then.

So now my main keyboard is soaked with orange kool-aid.

Luckily, I always have a back-up keyboard.

But I should know by now - DON'T DRINK BY THE COMPUTER WITH A CUP!

Sigh...

Figures...

Cool Connections

Just finished watching the teaser trailer for "The Terminal" Spielberg's next movie. This.. looks... fantastic. Tom Hanks (again), is the lead in this true story about a man who - because of a bureaucratic glitch - couldn't leave JFK International Airport. It looks fantastic and looks like a lot of fun.

Another connection I found. The guy who played "Sapito" in Raiders of the Lost Ark - in the beginning of the movie - played none other than Doctor Octopus in the new Spider-Man Movie. Now THAT'S Cool. Can't wait to see that.

A few movies I want to see this summer/fall - I, Robot (Will Smith) - Van Helsing - Garfield - The Terminal - Spiderman 2 - Shrek 2 - Troy - The Day After Tomorrow - Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban - Around the World in 80 Days - King Arthue - The Bourne Supremacy - The Village (M. Night Shyamalan's New movie) - The Manchurian Candidate - Thunderbirds (Directed by Jonathan Frakes) - Aliens vs. Predator (awesome) - The Incredibles (PIXAR's new movie) and in December - Ocean's Twelve. Looks like a great year for movies.

Wow! I can actually see the screen!

Finally bought a decent monitor up at Wal-Mart yesterday. 17-inch Monitor (16 inch viewable), and it looks fantastic. no more bleeding blue colors! Also picked up Trival Pursit Genus 6 - so Chuck and I have a decent shot at a trivia baseball game.

What's Trivia Baseball you ask? Easy. Take a Trivial Pursuit game, and get three players. One is the Referee, and the other two players are the two teams. The Ref asks all the questions on the card to the first team up. If the person answers correctly, that's a point - BUT - if they answer incorrectly, the opposing player gets a shot to steal the point. After 18 cards (9 innings) the team with the most points wins. If it's a tie, then go into extra innings (more cards). Chuck and I are pretty evenly matched.
