Down with the FCC...

The FCC has broadcasters scared, and I think it's pathetic. Saving Private Ryan is an amazing movie made to honor the lives of those who died for our country, and the FCC has broadcasters scared because of hefty fines they levied on CBS (for the Super Bowl breast showing), and ABC (?) for Bono's explicative.

Which is interesting, considering they seem to be flip-flopping on issues. What I don't get is that they let "Schindler's List" air on ABC - which I think has a more extreme subject matter (along with full-frontal nudity) than Ryan does.

And we owe it all to the Super Bowl. If it weren't for Janet Jackson's boob popping out on Live National TV - broadcasters wouldn't be stuck in this Catch-22 situation. Most broadcasters wanted to air Ryan, as long as they were guaranteed of no fines for airing it. But if they do air it, they might get fined, but they might not - so they err on the side of caution, and this movie that honors the memories of thousands upon thousands that have died for our country isn't aired.

Very very sad....

LOST!

And here I thought that Network TV had nothing good to offer.

"LOST" on ABC has to be one of the BEST TV shows I've ever watched. Tonight episode was great - considering that for the past 4 episodes the character Lock has appeared pretty normal. Until they show his back story. And what a back story twist. All you see is Lock sitting down, and you don't think anything of it, until you see him trying to get on the bus in Australia for the native "Walk-About" - and the camera pulls back - and he's in a wheelchair.

And then you realize that the plabne crash somehow restored his ability to walk - and they pulled it off so well that it just stuns you, with your jaw dropped, you eyes slightly bulging, and then the awe that this character who hasn't walked in 4 years is up and about.

Way Cool.

Oh my God - It's BACK!

I can't believe it - I consider myselff a HUGE Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy fan - I mean I freaked when I heard there was a HHGTTG movie being filmed.

Now I find out that BBC Radio 4 has actually created a continuation of the ORIGINAL series - on radio. Called the "Tertiary Phase" I'm listening to it on BBC's website - and it's as funny as the original (especially Ford and Arthur chasing a sofa on prehistoric earth).

Can't wait until next week's installement.. I'm a happy man right now....

Two months?

Yeah it's been a while - Let's recap shall we?

1) Got fired from Domino's - which is all well and fine with me considering how awful that place was geting when I "left"

2) 1 month and 3 weeks with no work and no unemployment - a nasty side effect about why I was fired

But on the plus side....

1) Got food stamps, and my landlord was nice enough to let me pay back rent - No Eviction!

2) Finally started working temporarily for BankNorth Group - Data Entry for $10/hr! Much much better than slinging pizzas.

3) Donating plasma for 40 a week as well.

4) Kicked the habit - caffeine that is - Caffeine free for 7 weeks and I'm eating better as well.

So basically my life has totally gone topsy-turvy - in a good way :)

Martha Martha Martha!

Unreal - Martha Stewart has been fined $30,000 and faces jail time - BUT (there's always a but)....

She to spend 5 months confined - TO HER HOME!

God!  That's almost like telling a kid who has a lot of video games, computers and a TV in his room that's he's grounded, and CAN'T COME OUT!  That's not a punishment, it's a vacation.

It came at a price

Yeah I switched to DSL. It's cheaper that's for sure, the interent speed is great, but (there's always a but) - My newsgroups download is capped at 16kB a sec. About 3x as fast as dial up.

There's a plus side and a minus side though - the plus is that the newsgroup retention through Oxford Networks is amazing. All the posts are there, and It's fantastic. The minus is I can't download that fast. But I figure if I do download, It'll take me longer.

Oh well.
